The music features a fantastic solo Cor Anglais part accompanied by solo cello and orchestra

Rarely performed these days it is an opportunity not to be missed.

Solo Cor Anglais will be Helen Wynne-Jones ( our regular Principal Oboe)

Jean Sibelius a Finish Hero
​
Jean Sibelius was a hero in his native Finland
His music gave the newly found nation a real sense of national pride
He composed seven symphonies as well as many tone poems and incidental music to plays etc.
He is best know for "Finlandia"
The second symphony is known as one of his best and we are looking forwards to preforming it for you at this concert​
